AngloGold Ashanti PLC has announced the acquisition of Centamin PLC, the top gold producer in Egypt with the flagship Sukari mine, in a deal valued at approximately £1.9 billion. This strategic move will enhance AngloGold’s annual gold output by roughly 450,000 ounces and deliver immediate cost reductions, with the transaction expected to be accretive to both free cash flow per share and net asset value per share. Centamin shareholders are set to own about 16.4% of the enlarged AngloGold entity, gaining cash returns and exposure to a diversified portfolio.
