Cal-Maine Foods (CALM) stock was slammed on Wednesday alongside the release of the egg supply company’s Fiscal Q1 2026 earnings report. This report began with diluted earnings per share of $4.12, which was well below the $5.10 that Wall Street expected. This is despite the company’s diluted EPS undergoing a 34.6% increase year-over-year.

Another blow to CALM stock came from the company’s revenue of $922 million, which missed analysts’ estimate of $960.31 million. However, investors will note that the company’s revenue was up 17.4% year-over-year. This revenue gain came from a 6.5% increase in shell egg sales and an 839.1% increase in prepared food sales.

Cal-Maine Foods stock was down 7.56% in pre-market trading on Wednesday, following a 2.1% drop yesterday. The shares have fallen 1.71% year-to-date but were up 24.78% over the past 12 months.

Cal-Maine Foods Guidance

Cal-Maine Foods didn’t include formal guidance in its latest earnings report. Even so, President and CEO Sherman Miller commented on what the company expects for the future. He said, “Looking ahead, we see a clear and compelling long-term growth trajectory for Cal-Maine Foods as we continue to execute on our strategic priorities. Our significant scale, vertical integration, diversification, and financial discipline all provide a resilient foundation.”

The Cal-Maine Foods CEO specifically noted the commitment to specialty eggs and prepared foods in his comments. He stated that they are “value drivers for the future.”
