Apple Postpones Rollout of Next Version of iPhone Air
iPhone Air, the sleeker, lighter model in Apple’s smartphone portfolio, has failed to boost sales as desired. While Apple aimed to attract users with a minimalist design, the iPhone Air came with some trade-offs in camera features and battery capacity.
Market experts have noted weaker-than-anticipated demand for iPhone Air, prompting the company to rethink the planned launch of the next version. Apple has reportedly informed engineers and suppliers of the postponement of the launch of the next iPhone Air model, without specifying a new release schedule. It has “sharply scaled back” production of the first version of the iPhone Air.
Apple had planned to launch the next version of iPhone Air in fall 2026, along with the iPhone 18 Pro and the much-anticipated iPhone Fold. Nonetheless, a source told The Information that the next version of iPhone Air might be launched in spring 2027.
Meanwhile, Apple recently reported better-than-expected results for the September quarter amid concerns about intense competition and tariff woes. The company highlighted solid demand for iPhone 17, with CEO Tim Cook saying that iPhone revenue is expected to grow by double digits, making the December quarter “the best ever in the history of the company.”
