Remember yesterday, when I was surprised to hear about another recall at legacy automaker Ford (F)? Because it was the first one I had heard about in quite some time? Well, I guess this is Ford’s way of getting back at me, because now, there is a second new recall to point out, this time, over rear cameras. But investors are no more concerned about this recall than they were about yesterday’s recall, and sent shares up nearly 1.5% in Friday afternoon’s trading.

The new reports note that Ford is recalling over 290,000 vehicles in the United States over issues with the rear camera. Under certain lighting conditions, reports note, the cameras may not display properly, and that could make a crash that much more likely. The recall appears limited to pickup trucks, mainly, including Ford F-250 SD models from between 2020 and 2022, as well as F-350 SD and F-450 SD vehicles.
Ford was aware of 10 reports of camera-related issues, reports note, with the first report going all the way back to January 20, 2022. However, Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries connected to the phenomenon. Interim letters will go out October 20, and additional letters will follow in March 2026. The fix should be fairly simple, reports note, as dealerships will update the “image processing module software.”
Hiked Bonuses
In the United States, we are a little less than a month out from Veterans Day, a special celebration of our nation’s soldiers. Usually this means no mail delivery, perhaps some closed banks, and special sales, along with at least some level of pause to consider our soldiers. But for Ford, it means a little something extra, as Ford plans to double its cash bonus to military and first responder customers ahead of the big day.
Normally, Ford gives a cash bonus to first responders and active, retired, and veteran members of the United States military. Now, that bonus stands at $1,000, before some other incentives kick in. In fact, the Ford Military and First Responder Recognition Program, as it is called, can be stacked with other offers, during this limited time period. This includes an $80 tire discount, and a $100 tire rebate when four specific tires are purchased.
Is Ford Stock a Good Buy Right Now?
Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Hold consensus rating on F stock based on two Buys, 10 Holds and two Sells assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. After a 5.77% rally in its share price over the past year, the average F price target of $11.41 per share implies 4.48% downside risk.
