Super Micro Computer Stock Forecast: Trending Analyst Divide

(SMCI) stock has risen 28.0% over the past week and 36.0% over the past month, though it is still down 18.4% over the last 12 months. Wall Street’s analysts are neutral, forecasting a 12‑month price of 39.73 USD versus the last close of 37.61 USD, which implies only modest upside and supports a Hold consensus.

Behind that Hold view are sharply divided opinions on Super Micro Computer, Inc. One of the most bullish voices is Quinn Bolton of Needham & Company, who reiterated a Buy rating on August 12, 2026, with a price target of 46.00 USD, signaling clear upside from current levels. Bolton highlights a company that is guiding revenue and earnings higher despite a recent top-line miss.

Bolton points to FY27 revenue guidance of 68.5 billion USD at the midpoint, well above prior Street estimates of 54.4 billion USD. Management also reiterated a 60 billion USD backlog, suggesting strong demand, with AI solutions expected to account for about 80% of revenue as orders are fulfilled and gross margins expected to generally improve off the guided F1Q27 level of 10.6%.

On the other side, Ruplu Bhattacharya of BofA remains cautious, reiterating a Sell (Underperform) rating on August 12, 2026, with a price target of 33.00 USD, below the current market price. Bhattacharya argues that recent margin strength is driven by an unusually favorable mix and one‑time factors, and sees those margins normalizing lower as more AI server projects roll out.

Bhattacharya also flags elevated working capital needs and ongoing risks tied to rapid GPU platform transitions, which could weigh on free cash flow even as SMCI expands manufacturing capacity to more than 6,000 racks per month. With Bolton ranking 16 out of 12,419 analysts on TipRanks, boasting a 68.0% success rate and 55.4% average return per rating, and Bhattacharya ranking 2,016 with a 56.25% success rate and 9.6% average return, investors face a classic split‑decision and should track further updates closely.
