ETF Overview
FT Vest U.S. Equity Quarterly 20 Barrier ETF
FT Vest U.S. Equity Quarterly 20 Barrier ETF (SQBR) is a structured-outcome ETF for investors seeking S&P 500 exposure with a defined measure of downside protection over short, quarterly periods. The fund uses FLEX options on the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) to participate in SPY’s price gains up to a predetermined upside cap, while seeking to absorb the first 20% of SPY’s losses during each three-month outcome period. At the end of each quarter, the fund resets its options, cap and downside barrier for a new outcome period. Losses beyond the 20% buffer are generally borne by shareholders on a one-for-one basis, and the upside cap limits participation in strong market gains; both the cap and protection apply only for the specified quarterly period and may be reduced by fees and expenses. As a Structured Outcome ETF in the S&P 500 downside-hedge niche, SQBR may appeal to investors prioritizing risk management and reduced volatility over uncapped equity-market upside.
