ETF Overview
AllianzIM International Equity Buffer15 ETF
AllianzIM International Equity Buffer15 ETF (QBIF) is a structured‑outcome ETF designed to give investors targeted exposure to developed international equities while limiting short‑term downside. The fund seeks to deliver the share‑price returns of the iShares MSCI EAFE ETF (EFA) — a market‑cap weighted index of developed‑market stocks in Europe, Australasia and the Far East (excluding the U.S. and Canada) — up to a predetermined upside cap, while providing a buffer that absorbs the first 15% of losses, net of the fund’s expenses.
QBIF implements a quarterly, options‑based outcome strategy: each three‑month outcome period the fund establishes a payoff profile that limits upside participation above a specified cap and protects against the initial 15% of downside during that period. Because these outcome terms reset every three months, the cap and buffer apply to returns measured over each outcome window rather than to perpetual, uncapped participation in EFA’s returns.
The fund’s niche is EAFE exposure with a built‑in, short‑term downside hedge. EFA offers broad diversification across developed international markets — including major European and Asian markets and Australia — and QBIF layers a defined protection/control feature on top of that exposure for investors who want some downside mitigation without fully giving up equity exposure.
Important trade‑offs: the buffer covers only the first 15% of losses in each quarter; losses beyond that remain the investor’s responsibility. Upside is limited to the cap set for each outcome period, so strong rallies in international equities will not be fully captured. Performance is reported net of the fund’s costs and may differ from EFA due to fees, option costs and outcome period results.
QBIF may suit investors seeking tactical or complementing exposure to developed international equities who prioritize limited, short‑term downside protection and are comfortable with periodic caps on upside and the reset nature of the strategy. It is not a replacement for unconstrained long‑term equity allocation for investors seeking unlimited upside participation.
