ETF Overview
Corgi U.S. Equities 30% Structured Buffer ETF - June Series
CTJN — Corgi U.S. Equities 30% Structured Buffer ETF - June Series is an actively managed, options‑based ETF that delivers a defined, S&P 500‑focused outcome for investors seeking equity exposure with built‑in downside mitigation. The fund uses customizable FLEX options to create an annual “structured buffer” strategy that aims to provide the price return of the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) up to a predetermined cap, while absorbing the first 30% of index losses over each one‑year series that begins on June 1.
How it works: at the start of each June series the portfolio manager implements an options overlay designed to (1) participate in upside performance of the S&P 500 up to a capped level and (2) protect shareholders from the first 30% of downward moves in the index during that 12‑month period. If the S&P 500 declines less than or equal to 30% over the series, the ETF’s buffer is designed to offset those losses; if the index falls more than 30%, investors bear losses beyond the buffer (e.g., a 40% index drop would result in roughly a 10% net loss after the 30% buffer). Similarly, upside is limited by the cap set at each series inception.
Why investors use it: CTJN fits a niche for investors who want systematic, time‑boxed downside protection tied to the S&P 500 while accepting capped upside and an annual reset. It can serve as a complement to core equity holdings for those prioritizing loss mitigation over uncapped growth. Important considerations: outcomes differ from direct SPY ownership (because of the cap, option costs and implementation), protection is limited to the specified 30% buffer and resets annually on June 1, and the strategy involves derivatives‑related risks and trading costs. The ETF offers intraday liquidity and the transparency of an exchange‑listed vehicle while delivering a structured, outcome‑oriented alternative in the S&P 500 downside‑hedge category.
