Bulls Say, Bears Say
Bulls Say
Free Cash Flow RecoveryA sharp rebound in free cash flow to ~$119M TTM and very strong FCF growth restores internal funding capacity. Durable cash generation improves ability to pay down debt, fund the Outback refresh program, and support marketing and capex without needing dilutive capital.
Brand & Guest MomentumImproving guest satisfaction and several brand-level comp wins signal strengthening brand equity and customer loyalty. Sustained improvements at core concepts like Outback, Bonefish and Carrabba's support durable traffic and check expansion, aiding long-term restaurant economics.
Targeted Capital Investment PlanA multi-year refresh and completion of char-grill capacity are structural investments to modernize assets and support the steak program. Focused, budgeted capex can sustainably raise average check and guest experience, helping comp growth across the estate over several years.
Bears Say
Balance Sheet LeverageHigh leverage relative to equity constrains strategic flexibility and increases interest and refinancing risk. Even after debt reduction, elevated leverage limits how quickly the company can pivot capital toward growth, store refreshes, or shareholder returns if cash flow weakens.
Thin, Volatile ProfitabilityVery slim margins and historical swings between profit and loss indicate earnings are sensitive to traffic, commodity and labor cost moves. Persistently low operating margins reduce the cushion for investment and debt reduction, making sustained earnings improvement critical but uncertain.
Input Cost PressureOngoing commodity and labor inflation represent a structural headwind to restaurant-level economics. Sustained higher input costs force either margin compression or price increases that may suppress traffic, complicating the path to stable, durable margin recovery across the portfolio.

BOO Earnings Call
Q1 2026

Earnings Call Sentiment|Positive
The call conveyed a cautiously positive tone. The company showed modest revenue and adjusted EPS growth, improving guest satisfaction and clear progress on strategic initiatives (new steak lineup, service model, targeted refresh program). Several brands, notably Bonefish, delivered strong comp performance. However, meaningful near-term challenges remain: traffic declines (partly weather-related), commodity and labor inflation, slight margin compression, Brazil investment losses and leverage levels. Management reiterated guidance, emphasized early-turnaround momentum and prioritized investments in the customer experience while remaining cost conscious.View all DE:BOO earnings summariesBOO Stock 12 Month Forecast
