Rigetti Computing Slides as Quantum Hype Meets Reality

Rigetti Computing ( (RGTI) ) has fallen by -8.47%. Read on to learn why.

Rigetti Computing shares fell 8.47% over the past week, as the stock cooled after a sharp rally driven by excitement around a series of new contracts and positive analyst commentary. Despite the pullback, trading remained active and volatile, with the stock swinging around the mid‑$20s and options activity showing healthy interest from traders on both the bullish and bearish side.

The main driver behind the recent move has been an $8.4 million government contract in India, alongside other commercial wins that investors view as validating Rigetti’s quantum computing technology. Analysts highlighted Rigetti’s chiplet-based architecture, its in-house Fab-1 manufacturing capabilities, and fast superconducting gates as reasons to raise long-term forecasts and price targets, improving visibility into the company’s 2026 outlook. B. Riley’s upgrade of the stock to Buy helped fuel a wave of call buying and a flattening in put-call skew, signaling a modestly bullish stance in the options market even as implied volatility eased.

However, the latest decline suggests that some investors are taking profits and reassessing the near-term risk-reward after the rapid run-up. Concerns remain around Rigetti’s weak current revenue base, ongoing losses, pressured margins, and rising expenses, as well as execution risk and potential product delays. With the stock still up year-to-date and a technical “Buy” signal in place, the recent 8.47% weekly drop reflects the tension between strong long-term quantum computing optimism and the reality of a young company still proving that it can turn breakthrough technology into sustainable earnings.
