Microsoft has been rationing GPU access for teams building AI tools since late 2022, The Information’s Aaron Holmes and Kevin McLaughlin report, citing three current Microsoft employees. The company plans to announce Office 365 GPT-4 tools on Thursday, but has been rationing access to the hardware to ensure it has enough capacity to handle both Bing’s new GPT-4 powered chatbot and the upcoming new Office tools, the people say.
