Exxon reported Permian methane leak late, breaking rules, Bloomberg reports

Exxon failed to initially report a release of the super-potent greenhouse gas methane at its Permian Basin operations in New Mexico, a region in which its pledged to achieve net zero emissions by 2030, Bloomberg’s Aaron Clark and Zachary Mider report. Exxon disclosed last week that the Justice Department may seek a fine for a well blowout in Ohio that caused an enormous methane leak in 2018. Exxon has blamed its failure to initially notify regulators when the leak was discovered on February 5 on human error, saying someone forgot to file a form. Reference Link
