Credit Suisse analyst Simon Irwin says Christmas trading held up well for the majority of U.K. retailers. Promotional activity has been fairly modest for most retailers, apart from some "obviously over-stocked online names and certain brands," notably Adidas (ADDYY), Irwin tells investors in a research note. The analyst expects a number of retailers to slightly increase current year guidance or guide to the upper end of ranges. These could Next (NXGPF), B&M European Value Retail (BMRRY), JD Sports Fashion (JDSPY) and Marks & Spencer (MAKSY), contends Irwin.
