According to a recent LinkedIn post from Poolside, the company is introducing Poolside Desktop Assistant, a macOS application designed to run multiple coding agents across projects and repositories. The post highlights integrations with VS Code and Visual Studio, positioning the tool as a workspace where agents such as pool, Claude Code, Codex, and Gemini can operate in parallel.
The post suggests that Poolside is targeting a shift in developer workflows, moving from simple chat-based prompting toward directing and supervising long-running, multi-repository agent activity. By building on ACP, an open protocol from Zed, and separating interface, agent harness, and model, the product appears aimed at interoperability and avoiding lock-in to a single vendor stack.
As shared in the LinkedIn post, Poolside Desktop Assistant ships with Laguna S 2.1 paired with the internal pool harness used for agent reinforcement learning, and supports offline use via Laguna XS 2.1 through MLX. The company notes that it has relied on the assistant internally for about a year, and is now encouraging broader adoption and user feedback to guide future development.
For investors, this release indicates continued productization of Poolside’s agent infrastructure and a focus on professional developer use cases rather than pure experimentation. If the assistant gains traction, it could strengthen Poolside’s position in the emerging market for AI-native development environments, support future monetization via premium models or enterprise features, and enhance its competitive stance against larger AI platform providers.
