OX Security Highlights Security Risks in MCP Server Infrastructure

According to a recent LinkedIn post from OX Security, the company has released findings from an analysis of 5,095 unique hostnames tied to 15,465 Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. The post highlights infrastructure resolving outside the U.S., including in China and Russia, dead domains available for low-cost registration, and MCP infrastructure linked to home networks.

The post further points to a trust-based prompt injection risk and suggests MCP infrastructure is evolving faster than the governance frameworks meant to oversee it. For investors, this focus on emerging security vulnerabilities around MCP may indicate OX Security’s intent to position itself as a specialist in safeguarding AI and MCP ecosystems, potentially supporting demand for its products as enterprises seek to mitigate these newly identified risks.
