Collibra, a leader in data and AI governance, has unveiled findings from a recent Harris Poll survey indicating a significant gap in AI governance among tech decision-makers. The survey, which included over 300 U.S. professionals in data management and AI roles, revealed that while 86% of decision-makers are optimistic about the return on investment from agentic AI, less than half have established formal AI governance policies. This discrepancy is concerning as the industry rapidly advances towards integrating agentic AI, with 91% of technology leaders actively developing or deploying these systems.

Stijn Christiaens, Chief Data Citizen at Collibra, emphasized the transformative potential of agentic AI, predicting a shift towards roles like Chief AI Officer in the near future. Despite the enthusiasm, the survey highlights a need for robust governance frameworks, as only 48% of organizations have formal policies in place. Encouragingly, 60% of decision-makers are monitoring AI systems for bias and transparency, and over half are conducting regular risk assessments. Collibra’s findings underscore the urgency for comprehensive governance strategies to ensure responsible AI implementation, aligning with Gartner’s prediction that a significant portion of enterprise software will incorporate agentic AI by 2028. As the industry evolves, Collibra continues to advocate for trust-centered innovation and governance in AI development.
