Baz Develops Selective-Access Workflow for Coding Agents

According to a recent LinkedIn post from Baz, the company has changed how its coding agents access repositories, moving away from full Git clones. The agents continue working through GitHub, where they can read files, search code, create commits, push branches and resolve conflicts.

The post highlights a selective-access approach in which agents retrieve only the folders or files needed for a task. Baz also described Zee, its Slack-based internal coding agent, as having opened dozens of pull requests across company repositories during the past week using this workflow.

Baz said it built the open-source gion tool to support the model, arguing that limited file retrieval can be faster and require less disk space than downloading entire repositories. The product’s availability could help attract developer users and generate feedback, although the post did not provide adoption, revenue or performance data.

For investors, the update points to a potential efficiency improvement in AI-assisted software development and a possible technical differentiator for Baz. Its broader commercial impact will depend on whether gion can scale reliably, gain adoption among development teams and translate lower infrastructure requirements into measurable cost or productivity benefits.
