Algorithmiq – a quantum software company specializing in error mitigation and quantum chemistry – saw a pivotal week marked by fresh capital, strategic partnerships, and leadership expansion. The company closed an €18 million funding round led by United Ventures, moved its global headquarters to Milan, and was highlighted as an ecosystem partner in Microsoft’s quantum computing roadmap.
The financing, described as the largest venture investment in an Italian quantum startup to date, positions Milan as Algorithmiq’s operational hub as it scales internationally. Media coverage underscored Italy’s rising quantum ambitions and Algorithmiq’s conviction that long-term value in quantum computing will concentrate in software and algorithms rather than hardware.
Algorithmiq also advanced commercial adoption of its Tensor-Network Error Mitigation tool by promoting it through IBM’s Qiskit Functions Catalog. IBM Quantum Premium users were offered a limited-time opportunity to request a free one-year TEM license, aimed at improving result accuracy on noisy quantum hardware while containing quantum processing unit usage and costs.
The TEM product integrates directly into existing Qiskit workflows, supporting larger and deeper quantum circuits and lowering friction for enterprise and research users. This initiative strengthens Algorithmiq’s role within the IBM Quantum ecosystem and reinforces its positioning as an enabling technology provider for real-world quantum applications.
On the research front, Algorithmiq entered a collaboration with Fraunhofer ISC to accelerate materials development using digital methods, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing. The partnership targets complex materials systems such as resource-efficient high-performance magnets and aims to expand impact across energy, sustainable manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and advanced electronics.
The company’s ecosystem visibility was further enhanced at Microsoft Build, where CEO Satya Nadella spotlighted Algorithmiq and QuNorth as partners contributing to scalable quantum computing alongside the unveiling of the Majorana 2 processor. A keynote video featuring Algorithmiq CEO Dr. Sabrina Maniscalco emphasized the importance of collaboration across hardware, software, and applications.
Internally, Algorithmiq strengthened its operational leadership by appointing Irene Gentili as Chief of Staff, based in Milan. Her venture capital and early-stage startup experience is expected to support the build-out of structures, processes, and day-to-day operations as the company moves into a more formalized scaling phase.
Collectively, the new funding, Milan headquarters move, ecosystem partnerships with Microsoft and IBM, the Fraunhofer research collaboration, and the senior operational hire signal that Algorithmiq is consolidating its position as a specialized player in quantum software. These developments enhance its resources, visibility, and industrial relevance, setting the stage for the next phase of growth in a competitive and still-maturing quantum computing market.
