Bell, a wholly owned subsidiary of BCE (BCE), announced Monday a collaboration with TikTok Canada to allow its users to create with their friends in real time on Bell’s 5G network.
Thanks to Paint Portal, a new multi-user augmented reality (AR) experience on 5G, the TikTok community can now paint together even when physically separated.
Nauby Jacob, senior vice president of Products at Bell Mobility, said, “The multi-user augmented reality aspect of Paint Portal is a global first and Bell is thrilled to be the first carrier in Canada to power this exciting new feature with 5G. This partnership is yet another example of how Bell 5G technology will enable new and unique ways for TikTok content creators to enhance their digital lives by sharing their stories, experiences and videos in new ways.”
Paint Portal, whose experience is enhanced by the faster speeds, greater bandwidth, and lower latency of 5G, allows users in different locations to use AR brushes to paint together. Creators will simultaneously see their own environment and the 3D AR painting they co-create in real time.
To celebrate Paint Portal, Bell has partnered with Canadian creators @justinhopper, @kissyduerre, @dominosantantonio, and @monikapilon to launch #Bell5GPaintPortal, which begins September 27, and will showcase all the creative ways the TikTok community can use the effect. Wall Street is cautiously optimistic about BCE, with a Moderate Buy consensus rating based on five Buys and two Holds. The average BCE price target of C$66.29 implies upside potential of 3.1% to current levels.
