Crypto.com Airdrops Limited Edition LeBron NFTs

Crypto.com has officially begun the airdrop for the exclusive NFT collection featuring LeBron James.

After unveiling the event on Twitter on March 9, a total of 5,500 fans will be randomly selected for the “The Moment of Truth” NFT collection airdrop, which consists of behind-the-scenes moments and photos from the Super Bowl commercial.

This marks LeBron’s first collaboration with a crypto-focused brand. As part of its ongoing ad campaigns, Crypto.com recently partnered with the LeBron James and the LeBron James Family Foundation (LJFF) to collaborate on vocational and educational opportunities on Web 3.0.

The funds raised from sales of the NFTs will be used to provide students and families in Lebron’s hometown of Akron, Ohio with tools and resources to learn about blockchain along with career paths in the crypto ecosystem.

The Moment of Truth NFT collection consists of 15 NFTs, categorized into three tiers. Tier-3 features the NFTs that include on-set details and Easter eggs — five NFTs with 1,000 editions each.

Tier-2 showcases the nostalgia of LeBron’s roots, including his room in Akron. There are a total of five NFTs with 100 editions each in this tier.

Finally, Tier-1 includes five NFTs with 10 editions each that showcase exclusive glimpses of LeBron from behind the scenes of the big game commercial shoot.

Airdrops are a popular way to build hype for projects or NFT collections, and it involves distributing tokens or limited-edition NFTs for free to several hundred users.

Projects usually ask users to perform a set of tasks like joining a Discord server or a Telegram group, following on social media, and other comparable activities. When a user completes the required journey tasks and shares their public wallet addresses with the project, they stand a chance to win crypto or NFTs.

Crypto.com took the concept of airdrops a notch higher by integrating Easter eggs throughout its commercials. Earlier this year, Crypto.com launched its first ad with Matt Damon. This ad featured a secret QR code that led attentive viewers to an exclusive NFT drop.

Hence, fans all around the world had their eyes peeled to the screen during the launch of the LeBron James’ Super Bowl commercial. 

Viewers found several Easter eggs related to crypto and LeBron’s life in the short ad, including the one from DYOR cologne, Savannah’s mix, a seed phrase on his wall, and, most importantly, a QR code that appeared 10 seconds into the commercial.

Upon scanning the QR code, fans were redirected to a secret web page to provide their email addresses. Following this, Crypto.com delivered further instructions on how to enter for a chance to win a limited-edition NFT.

The commercial has struck a chord with viewers as well industry professionals, becoming one of the most acclaimed advertising campaigns of the 2022 Super Bowl.

The ad shows a young LeBron about to make his life-changing decision to skip college and join the NBA. An older LeBron advises the younger LeBron always to call his own shots.
