Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) Rises on Processor Leaks and Thunderbolt Share Concept

Story Highlights

Intel reveals new processors, new use cases, and how quickly its Thunderbolt Share application can move.

Free INTC Analysis

There’s been quite a bit of news of late for chip stock Intel (NASDAQ:INTC), as new processors are getting leaked or actively released, and new use cases are cropping up. Intel is out to be a lot of different things to a lot of different users, and that level of versatility can’t be all bad. Investors agreed as the flood of news sent Intel shares up almost 1.5% in Thursday afternoon’s trading.

We know that the “Lunar Lake” processor is being geared toward devices that don’t take a lot of power. But now, it’s appeared in the listing for an upcoming gaming handheld device. Shenzhen Weibu Information Inc. recently brought out information on the GP10, a handheld gaming PC that measures about 11 inches in total. The product is set for exhibition this June at the Computex show in Taiwan and will include one of Intel’s Lunar Lake chips.

That’s unusual, as any previous handheld gaming PCs with Intel chips have gone full Core Ultra. Meanwhile, new word about the “Twin Lake” line suggests that they could be a boon for the Chromebook market, offering no performance cores but all efficiency cores instead. That combination could prove useful in conserving power, making them a great tool for mobile operations.

Thunderbolt Moves Fast, Sort Of

Just to top it off, yesterday we got word about the Thunderbolt Share concept that allows for easy connection between PCs. And it’s moving faster than expected, at least in some cases. Reports note that the Thunderbolt Share is already available on Macs at no charge. There’s a reason Thunderbolt Share likely sounded familiar to some users, and that’s because with a little engineering in macOS file settings—turning on File Sharing and Screen Sharing in Sonoma’s Systems Settings menu—two M-series Macs will be available to connect via Thunderbolt.

Is Intel a Buy, Sell, or Hold?

Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Hold consensus rating on INTC stock based on four Buys, 25 Holds, and four Sells assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. After an 11.36% rally in its share price over the past year, the average INTC price target of $38.16 per share implies 19.74% upside potential.
