We roll over our TP to FY24/FY25F earnings to better account for 2H24’s semiconductor recovery as well as contributions from new front end customers. Near-term margins may remain muted on unabsorped capacities as the group readies itself for future growth. Given that utilisation rates are unlikely to rebound substantially, especially with the commissioning of a new facility in Penang, we are retaining our previous PE peg of c.18x the historical mean. We also reduce our earnings estimates by 19%/15% on toned down margin assumptions. Overall, we believe that GVT remains prepared to deliver when orders come in but is presently constrained by cautiousness within the industry, which should abate 2H24 onwards.

We expect GVT to continue with its M&A strategy. In its presentation slides released on 30 Nov 2023 in conjunction with the proposed acquisition of ACP, GVT highlighted that the group remains interested in M&As to develop a business in advanced materials. FY23-24F EPS forecasts trimmed further We think the 6.7% depreciation of the US dollar versus the Singapore dollar in 4Q23F is likely to lead to a foreign exchange loss for 4Q23F. Hence, we reduce our FY23F EPS forecast by 5.0%. With incoming integration costs following the ACP acquisition, we also raise our operating expenses assumption by 6.9% which leads to a 15.5% reduction in our FY24F EPS forecast. Our FY25F forecasts are unchanged.
